How to use Twitter's new automation guidelines to your benefit

The regulations from Twitter state that any third- party tools, such as Hubspot and Hootsuite, should no longer allow users to:


“Simultaneously post identical or substantially similar content to multiple accounts”

OR

“Simultaneously perform actions such as likes, retweets or follows”

Of course, you can still retweet the original message from other accounts that you manage, however this is only acceptable in small quantities and excessive actions from other accounts will also be cracked down on.

Twitter has taken this course of action in order to clamp down on spam violations where users are attempting to artificially influence the impact and
footprint of certain messages by posting the same message from numerous accounts and/or interacting with the content across numerous accounts.

So what does that mean for businesses? These steps will be viewed negatively by some who were in the habit of scheduling the same content across multiple company accounts in one sitting.

However, we see this as step forward.

Inbound marketing focuses on creating content that is not just highly relevant, but is meaningful and engaging for the audience. So, instead of a blanket message across your accounts, you are now being forced to fly the inbound flag and really think about your content and continually improve what you are creating to ensure it is highly relevant for your target audience.

More interesting content is good thing – I think we’d all agree with that!
