Making viral infectious

Making viral infectious

The internet has revolutionised our lives and more over, the way we communicate. We shop, date, chat and work online, and increasingly we sell goods, services and build our brands in the digital environment.

From an advertising perspective, at Fifth Ring, we believe the viral ad or campaign is one of the most powerful tools for raising awareness of your product, service or brand within a mass audience. Viral ads generally consist of a short video clip that is so compelling that those receiving it will email it on to their entire address book. As a result, much of the advertisers work is already done.

You will find that such campaigns then become the talking points in the workplace, amongst family and friends and some have even made it to the news.

One of the most successful viral ads of all time was from Nike. Achieving more than 50 million views globally, the clip features Ronaldinho hitting the crossbar with a football four times in row without the ball hitting the ground. The clip sparked a massive discussion on whether it was real, driving millions of viewers to watch it for themselves and at the same time drawing attention to Nike’s new pro football boots.
