BBN is the most awarded network at BMA Global ACE Awards
May 16, 2013
The combined haul of awards represented efforts from network members Stein IAS, Bader Rutter and Fifth Ring and mean that BBN has won more than any other global agency network in this year’s ACE Awards.
Organised by the Business Marketing Association (BMA) New York City chapter, the Global ACE Awards, were held in New York to celebrate the very best of global creative B2B marketing.
Clif Collier, Executive Director at BBN, said: “BBN’s collective performance at the ACE Awards really is a fantastic achievement, and shows that we are quickly becoming the most-awarded global network when it comes to B2B marketing. The strength of the work submitted and the prizes awarded are testament to the fact that, as a network, we are continuing to dominate the worldwide B2B landscape.
“Success at global awards ceremonies such as this is particularly befitting of the truly international coverage which the Business Branding Network offers the clients of all its member agencies. The overwhelming recognition received at the BMA Global ACE Awards is a testament to the hard work put in by each agency individually as well as the collective strength of our network.”
The wins claimed by BBN member agencies showed the diversity of skills and expertise of the group with awards being given for internal and external communications, social media and advertising campaigns.
The BMA Global ACE Awards are designed to set industry standards for creative excellence whether in print or online and has now been rolled out to an international audience for the first time.
Collier added: “The unique structure of the BBN creates a balance of local control with international accessibility to a shared pool of talented individuals to drive tailored brand strategies that capture the imagination. With the internationalisation of business this is a fantastic strength to have and of great benefit to our clients.
“To gain recognition on this scale from a panel of our peers is very rewarding indeed and reaffirms our position as the leading B2B network.”
Judges of the coveted Hermes Creative Awards were impressed by the company’s work for clients Swire Oilfield Services and Oilcareers.com, awarding the firm Platinum prizes in the integrated marketing/company branding and integrated/event marketing categories for the respective campaigns. High-profile campaigns carried out on behalf of Tensar International and cancer charity Maggies saw Fifth Ring take away the Gold award in the Public Relations campaign and pro bono categories while an honourable mention was given in Pro Bono for work done on the YMCA’s We are Why initiative. Honourable mentions were also given for campaigns on behalf of CSL (integrated marketing campaign) and Total’s Shetland Gas Plant (internal communications campaign) from 2013 Hermes Creative Awards.
In the same week Fifth Ring also came out on top in another global awards ceremony – the Global ACE Awards which was held in New York. The company was handed awards in both the Out of Home Single Ad and Employee Brand Engagement categories. These awards were presented for the company’s work with clients Empower and Total respectively.
The company, which specialises in business-to-business (B2B) communications, was awarded the accolades in recognition of its work for clients throughout the world from its bases in Aberdeen, Houston, Dubai and Singapore.
Fifth Ring’s business development director Ian Ord said: “To be commended in awards that showcase the best in B2B throughout the world is a remarkable achievement. It is always rewarding to deliver campaigns that surpass the expectations of our clients, but to have those successes recognised by our peers is very gratifying indeed.
“These awards are a clear indication of the talent which exists throughout our network of offices and are further testament to our integration across regions, including our Dubai, Houston, Singapore and Aberdeen offices. By allowing our teams to work collaboratively across geographical boundaries we are able to provide unrivalled results for our clients.”
The BMA Global Ace Awards Out of Home First place Trophy represents work carried out for leading district cooling services provider Empower in Dubai. Fifth Ring developed targeted, high impact outdoor advertising by wrapping an entire building in advertising to increase positive external perception of the brand.
Ord comments: “It is a honour to work alongside such forward-thinking, some may say bold, companies, and to be commended throughawards goes to show the high level of work that goes in from both our clients and experienced team.”
The Global ACE Awards from the Business Marketing Association of New York (BMA) celebrates best of international business marketing. The awards are designed to set industry standards for creative excellence whether in print or online.
The Hermes Creative Awards, which is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, is a global competition for creative professionals involved in traditional and emerging media. The competition is judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence, and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.
These awards continue an exciting year for Fifth Ring, which completed the latest phase of its expansion with the opening of its Singapore office in January. In November, the company was also named Scotland’s top marketing company at the prestigious Marketing Industry Network Awards.
The Aberdeen-based company, which specialises in Business-2-Business communications within the energy industry, supports clients internationally through bases in Aberdeen, Houston, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur and has now acquired Singapore-based Like Minds Consulting.
Fifth Ring’s new office in Singapore highlights the increasing development opportunities across its key market sectors of energy, construction, property and financial services. It will be taking its integrated communications offering – which strategically combines business positioning, public relations, advertising, design & production and digital media & marketing – to the Singapore market.
Group managing director, Clif Collier, said: “Over recent years we have supported a number of global energy firms in ventures in the world’s major energy capitals such as Dubai, Houston and Aberdeen. Last year we saw an increased and sustained demand for support in Asia and Singapore in particular.
“Establishing a presence within the country became a logical step for us to ensure we continue to be where our existing and future clients need us to be.”
Ian Ord, Fifth Ring’s business development director, said: “While we have managed a number of successful projects in Singapore, we recognise that having a local presence is a prerequisite in order to succeed and grow. This acquisition will help support our philosophy of a global strategy being supported by local delivery.
“We are confident that this expansion will lead to attractive opportunities for Fifth Ring, not only in procuring new business, but also in presenting new opportunities for our existing client base.
“The move demonstrates our active approach to fully internationalise Fifth Ring – a vision we set out in 2004 - by securing offices across the energy centres of the world. We constantly seek to raise the bar to an entirely new level.”
Like Minds is a digital and PR company which has represented the interests of a number of major corporations such as Affle, Servion and Citilink. The company will be enhanced by Fifth Ring’s broad range of expertise.
Fifth Ring’s new office is led by Himanshu Verma, who takes on the role of the company’s APAC managing director having previously held the position of director of Like Minds Consulting. Mr Verma brings with him more than 21 years of public relations, public affairs and marketing communications experience. His leadership roles include stints with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and PR agency IPAN Hill+Knowlton Strategies.
With support from its UK, North America and Middle East teams, Fifth Ring has set ambitious but targets for its new regional office.
Collier added: “This is the latest step, but by no means the last, in fulfilling our vision of being the world’s leading B2B specialists, with particular focus on energy sector. “
The black tie ceremony took place in Manchester last night, with awards being presented to the nations leading agencies and individuals in recognition of the marketing industry’s top talents.
Fifth Ring was named Scotland’s Best Marketing Business and also came out on top in the Best B2B Marketing Strategy or Campaign category in recognition of its traffic lights campaign, which was developed on behalf of OilCareers.com and delivered at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.
And the company triumphed over some of the world’s biggest brand’s to take the best campaign crown having been nominated alongside Microsoft, Dulux, Royal Mail and Stanley Tools among others.
The winning campaign asked visitors to the OTC conference to rate their job satisfaction by taking a drink in a coloured cup. Red signified that a delegate really loved their job while amber invited prospective employers to “excite me and I will consider it” and green cups represented an eagerness to find new employment.
The idea was based on the party concept, which has become popular in the United States. In that version participants wear colour-coded badges to signify their relationship status. Red badges would signify that the wearer is in a relationship, amber that the person was not actively seeking a relationship and green representing that the individual is eager to find love.
Fifth Ring’s business development director, Ian Ord, said: “I am thrilled to have won two awards on what is widely regarded as industry Oscars.
“Winning Scotland’s Best Marketing Business is testament to the overall work ethic and dedication of all of the team at Fifth Ring, the quality of their work ensures that our client portfolio is continually expanding. What is particularly encouraging is that the award recognised not only the creative output of the company but also overall commercial performance and internationalisation of the company. We will continue to drive forward innovative ideas to the benefit of our clients both locally and throughout the world.”
These latest awards for Fifth Ring follow on the heels of international accolades received from Business Marketing Association in Chicago, a further two awards at the 2012 Hermes Creative Awards in Houston and most recently winning Best Campaign Category at the Northern Star Business Awards for the organisations work on behalf of Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal, in a category where the Oilcareers.com OTC Traffic Lights campaign was also shortlisted.
Fifth Rings Head of PR, Rhea Hussey, who was part of the team that worked to develop the campaign for OilCareers.com said, “Having our work for OilCareers.com recognised in a room filled with the industry’s top talent is an honour, the campaign highlights the quality in the team’s creative thinking as well as the dedication and commitment to see what was an exciting idea through to an effective delivery at one of the world’s biggest industry conferences.”
