Fifth Ring: Through the eyes of an intern

It can always be a little bit daunting, being the new person in the office. You don’t know anyone and you stick out like a sore thumb – but not here, not at Fifth Ring.

I’m currently on placement in the Aberdeen office, for six weeks, working in the Brand and Strategy department. Being a university student it’s hard to really know where you want to go in life and the career path you want to take. I’m extremely grateful to Fifth Ring for taking me in and letting me learn and develop as a student but also, a person.

I’m not the sort of person to sit and twiddle my thumbs and watch the world pass by and being a student, on placement you think you’ll be given the worst jobs: filing, answering phone calls and getting the never-ending coffee runs. But here you’re like everyone else, doing daily tasks for clients, conducting research audits and attending meetings but mostly, you feel like you’re part of the team.

I am already halfway through my placement, and it feels like I’ve just stepped through the door. I can’t say it feels like I’ve been here for a few weeks, time is flying past.

Looking around, right now I can say I’m happy. Happy to have been given this opportunity to work alongside talented, career-driven people – who start their day with a smile and end their day laughing. Every day is different, you never know the challenges that you’ll be set and if you like pushing yourself to be all you can be, then you’re in the right place.

For a student, Fifth Ring has been a fun, exciting and memorable experience. I can’t thank the Aberdeen office enough for their time and patience.

So, thank you Fifth Ring!
