Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal
Fifth Ring proudly supports Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal in an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise £3m to bring a Maggie's Centre to Foresterhill Hospital, Aberdeen for families affected by cancer across Grampian. The Maggie’s Centre is hugely important and will offer support to anyone with a diagnosis of cancer in the region as well as their family and friends.
The Appeal was established by Scottish golf legend Colin Montgomerie in memory of his mother Elizabeth who died of cancer. “Having a centre in Aberdeen will be a source of tremendous support to people living with cancer in the area. No one with cancer should have to suffer alone and by making this campaign a success we will be moving closer to that goal”.
Fifth Ring has supported the campaign by providing corporate communications to raise the profile of the campaign locally to help achieve the target.
We designed the print collateral for the Montgomerie golf event 2 years in a row. This year’s event attracted 22 teams from Aberdeen city and shire and was followed by a Gala Dinner, held at the home of committee members Stewart Milne and Joanna Robertson, for 200 guests in the evening. The event, which included a charity auction, raised an impressive £225,000, surpassing last year’s total of £198,000 and significantly added to the total raised for the Appeal so far.
We produced the invites, auction programme and presentations for the evening. Appeal committee member and Fifth Ring’s business development director Ian Ord, said: “We’re proud to be a part of this appeal and delighted to have played a small part in the success of this popular event. The response from people has been fantastic. The Appeal has been adopted by the Press & Journal and has been taken to the hearts of the people of Aberdeen with the Journals gathering over 1,000 donations”.
We have also supported the appeal by designing other materials such as ads, exhibition graphics, e-shots, web graphics and have advised on the PR strategy.
The campaign has been hugely successful so far with over £1million raised. The challenge for the charity committee is to maintain the campaign momentum to ensure the £3 million target is reached as early as possible in 2012 thereby allowing the construction of the Centre to progress quickly and look forward to an opening in early 2013.
